Torque is a comprehensive vehicle diagnostics tool and scanner that provides real-time information about your car. It allows you to access OBD fault codes, car performance data, sensor data, and more. This tool connects to your OBD2 engine management / ECU using an OBD II Bluetooth adapter.
With Torque, you can create your own dashboard layout with customizable widgets and gauges. It also utilizes GPS to provide tracker logs with OBD engine logging, allowing you to track and analyze your car's performance at any point in time.
In addition, Torque can show and reset DTC / CEL / fault codes, serving as a helpful scanning tool to diagnose and fix car issues while keeping repair costs down. It also features a Dyno / Dynomometer and Horsepower/HP & Torque meter, transmission temperature reading, 0-60 speed timings, CO2 emissions readout, customizable dashboard profiles, and more.
Other notable features of Torque include the ability to record journeys using the Track Recorder plugin with onscreen OBDII data overlay, automatic GPS tagged tweets for road trips, a massive fault code database for different manufacturers, theme support to change the dashboard's appearance, logging information export for analysis, and a Heads Up Display (HUD) mode for night-time driving.
Furthermore, Torque offers turbo boost feature compatibility with MAP and MAF sensors for vehicles like VW, Golf/Audi/Seat. It also provides alarms and warnings for critical conditions such as coolant temperature exceeding 120°C while driving, and it includes support for car docks and graphing data like MPG.
Sharing screenshots to social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ is made easy with Torque. It also offers an AIDL API for third-party app integration, a Telnet interface for developers to communicate with the adapter, and an OBD scanner functionality.
When it comes to compatibility, Torque works on tablet devices like the Motorola Xoom, Dell Streak, Samsung Galaxy Tab, and Nook. It is compatible with any vehicle using the OBD2 standard (most vehicles built after 2000), and it supports various makes including Ford, VW, GM/Vauxhall/Opel, Chrysler, Mercedes, Audi, Jaguar, Citroen, Peugeot, Skoda, Kia, Mazda, Lexus, Subaru, Renault, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Honda, Hyundai, BMW, Toyota and more.
It is important to note that Torque requires a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter to function. The adapter is small and easily connects to the car's diagnostic socket. Make sure to check for compatibility with your vehicle's manufacturer or look for the "OBD2" label in your engine bay. However, please be cautious when purchasing cheap OBD2 ELM327 Bluetooth adapters from platforms like eBay or Amazon; it is recommended to have a good returns policy with the seller.
For reliable OBD2 / OBD adapters, some of the recommended brands include Scantool.net adapter, OBDKey, and PLX Devices. Other supported adapters include OBDLink and ELM327. Please note that the number of supported sensors may vary depending on the vehicle's ECU.
It is worth mentioning that any reports of hanging or reboots after quitting the app on HTC devices and Galaxy Tabs are due to a bug related to the use of Pandora/Vlingo/Other Bluetooth apps. This issue can be resolved by disabling Pandora's new Bluetooth settings. We recommend contacting HTC/Samsung support and requesting a fix for this bug.
